Dylan Grooms got it done in the first try when he brought his 2008 Ford Powerstroke 6.4L to the Ultimate Callout Challenge 2018 as a UCC Qualifier. Grooms represents Tyrant Diesel out of Arkansas. Grooms raced junior dragsters as a child and then got involved in truck pulling as the years went on. Once he was in the truck pulling scene for a few years, he had the urge to ‘go fast’ again. He found a regular cab and transferred the motor out of his crew cab to race for an upcoming event. Ever since then, Grooms just keeps making improvements to it and continues to race.
Grooms earned his automatic invitation to UCC 2019 as a UCC Competitor when he took 4th place overall at UCC 2018 as a UCC Qualfiier! Grooms grabbed 5th place on the dyno making 1,324.2 HP. After his very first pull on the dyno, Grooms pushed the head gaskets out. His team knew the truck was hurt, but decided to drain the water out of it and make what would most likely be a ‘mediocre pass’ on the drag strip. Since the truck was down on power, they added a little extra nitrous. He was able to snag 6th place for the drag racing portion, making it down the ¼ mile track in 9.929 seconds, missing 5th place by .006 seconds! They ended up hurting a piston and blowing the intake manifold off on the drag strip trying to grab a faster time. That night they had to swap the motor and a front and rear axle for the sled pulls. On the sled pulling track, Grooms made it 237.833 feet before the sled stopped, placing him at 9th place for that portion.
Grooms is sponsored and supported by Tyrant Diesel, No Limit Fabrication and Brian's Truck Shop. We are excited to see Grooms and his ‘08 Powerstroke back to the UCC, only this time as a UCC Competitor. Grooms claims he has been testing his truck ever since UCC 2018 to get it ready to perform the best to its ability at UCC 2019! Be sure to attend the event to see how he does at the fourth annual Ultimate Callout Challenge May 3 - 5, 2019!
